FAQ

Straight answers. Even to the awkward questions.

If you're nervous about rent to own, good. This category has earned some scepticism, and you should read the awkward stuff before you sign anything, with us or anyone else. Here's everything, including the questions other companies hope you won't ask.

Section one

Money

How much deposit do I need?

Deposits start at $690 for a small car, $730 for a mid size, $770 for a family size and $810 for an SUV. That's the only upfront money, and you'll see your exact figure in your quote before you commit to anything.

What's actually in the weekly payment?

The car, comprehensive insurance, registration, CTP, scheduled servicing and 24/7 roadside assistance, all in one flat weekly amount. It's the same number every week so you can actually budget. There's nothing extra to add on top.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Every fee we charge is published in a fee table on our how it works page, and your quote shows the total cost of the whole agreement before you sign. If a fee isn't published, we can't charge it. That's the deal we hold ourselves to.

Does a bigger deposit lower my weekly payments?

Yes. Every extra dollar you put down up front comes off what you're paying week to week. Our calculator lets you slide the deposit up and down and watch the weekly number change, so you can find the mix that suits your budget.

What does it cost in total?

It depends on the car and the term, and we'll show you the full dollar figure before you sign, always. As a guide, a small car over 3 years is about $31,100 all up including the deposit. Try the calculator to see your estimated total in seconds, and see our compare page for an honest look at how it stacks up against a bank loan.

Section two

Getting approved

Do you really never check my credit?

No, never. Banks say no for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with whether you can actually afford a car, a default, a bankruptcy, or just a thin file. We're the option when they turn you away. What we do check is your budget today: what's coming in, what's going out, and whether a weekly payment genuinely fits.

Who qualifies?

You need stable income that supports the weekly payment, and that includes casual work, self employment, and part Centrelink income where the numbers work. You'll also need to be 21 or over, hold your P plates or a full licence, and have 100 points of ID. If that's you, there's a very good chance we can help.

What documents will I need later?

The 60 second check needs no documents at all. If you go ahead, we'll ask for your licence, your last 2 payslips or income statements, and 90 days of bank statements. That's it, and it's all so we can make sure the payment truly fits your budget.

How fast can I get a car?

The eligibility check takes 60 seconds with an answer on your screen straight away. Once we have your documents, full approval usually comes through within a day. Most drivers pick up their car within the week.

Can I apply after bankruptcy?

Yes. Bankruptcy, past or current, doesn't automatically rule you out with us, because we don't run a credit check at all. What matters is whether the weekly payment genuinely fits your income now. The 60 second check will tell you where you stand, judgement free.

Section three

The car and the agreement

Can I choose my car?

You tell us the size and what you need it for, and we match you from our available cars to your budget. It's not a blank cheque dealership browse, but you always see the exact car and the exact costs before you commit to anything. If it's not right, say no and we'll keep looking.

Is there a km allowance?

Yes, and we'd rather tell you now than surprise you later. Your agreement includes a yearly km allowance that covers normal driving for most people, and if you go over, excess kms are charged per km at the rate stated in your agreement. You'll see the allowance and the rate in writing before you sign, so there's no guessing.

Who handles servicing and maintenance?

Scheduled servicing is included in your weekly payment and we organise it, so the car stays reliable and the logbook stays stamped. Your side is the everyday care: keep it clean, keep tyres inflated, top up washer fluid, and tell us early if something feels wrong. Fair wear and tear is expected, damage from neglect or misuse is yours.

Can I upgrade or return the car?

Yes to both. If your life changes and you need a bigger or smaller car, talk to us about moving to a different agreement. And if you need out entirely, you can return the car and end the agreement early, with exit costs capped, never a demand for the full remaining term.

What if the car breaks down?

Call the 24/7 roadside assistance that's included with every car and we'll get you moving. Every car comes serviced, safety checked and with warranty cover, so mechanical faults are on us to fix, not on you to fund. A breakdown should cost you time, not money.

Section four

When things go wrong

What happens if I miss a payment?

Talk to us as soon as you know, even before the payment is due, and we'll work out a plan together. We have a published hardship policy, and we don't do remote car disabling or instant repossession threats. One tough week doesn't undo everything. Ignoring it is the only thing that makes it worse.

What if I hit real financial hardship?

Tell us, and we'll take it seriously. Our hardship support can pause or reduce payments while you get back on your feet, and a real person will handle your case from start to finish. Losing your job shouldn't automatically mean losing your car, and with us it doesn't have to.

How do I complain, and what if we can't agree?

Call us or put it in writing and we'll respond quickly, with a real person owning the problem until it's fixed. If you're not happy with our answer, you can escalate to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), a free and independent external body. Our AFCA membership details are being finalised and will be published on this site, because you should be able to check up on us.

Can I exit the agreement early?

Yes. Return the car and your exit cost is capped at a maximum of 4 remaining weeks of payments, never the whole rest of the term. Life changes, and an agreement that traps you isn't an honest one. The cap is written into your agreement, not a favour we might grant.
